In the meadow

Summer hasn't quite arrived yet. For some reason the sky seems determined to stay gray and moody; keeping me away from the beach and that cute swimsuit I've begged my dad for.

Even though it's dull, it's not too cold for a pretty summer dress. This one from Somnia is perfect. It's short, flowing and any of the colours in the fatpack would brighten up anybody's day. I chose pink because it's my favourite, but you can choose from a generous selection.

I changed my hair too. Like it?
I've been blonde for so long that I really fancied a change, so I chose this warm brown from Wasabi Pills. I love the casual, soft look and I just adore the bangs.

I took a little day trip to a gorgeous little sim called Eternity which is a gorgeous country themed sim which feels very retro and summery. I found it through Asthenia Pinnazo's blog and fell in love. If you get a chance please go and see it for yourself. Hidden in the long grass around the lake are tons of spots to sit and relax or to take photographs.

Here's hoping summer is here soon.

Swimming in the sea hole

Hey Girls!

This is my first post on GforGirl and I am really excited to be here.
I'm Wendy Riaxik (Wendy Densmith in search) and I'm sixteen years old. I am blogging here to represent the roleplayed teens of second life, and I will be hunting down all of the funky and fun stuff that is suitable for teenagers. I'll also be telling you all about some really brilliant places targeted at teens. If you have any ideas you can comment on any of my posts, IM me in-world or email me wendydensmith@gmail.com

So...

Don't you just hate it when you find a new store to love, and then learn that it is closing for good.

Yeah, it happened to me today.

I was scanning through some feeds and blogs looking for somewhere to shop for some cute summer clothes that my Dad would approve of. It's heating up and I really wanted something cute and casual to wear whilst I hang out with my friends.

I'm sixteen and I really don't think dad would let me out of the house in a short skirt or low cut tank. So, when I found this post on Seraphim about The Sea Hole's closing sale I decided to go and see if they had anything on offer that would work.

I am really glad that I did because I managed to pick up these shorts and the gorgeous retro blouse for just 50 L each! I also picked up a few other things that I will try to show you before the weekend.
The pieces are amazing quality with fab textures. I especially love the texturing on the shorts and the fact that there are so many styles and choices in the store. The blouse is mesh and comes with a variety of sizes. I usually wear a medium and this one fits perfectly.

If you haven't checked out The Sea Hole before now then please do go and take a look before it closes. I wish I had found it sooner and I just know that I'll be spending a lot of time and Lindens there before it goes forever.

♥♥ Love Wendy ♥♥

Hair Fair 2012 - Discord Designs

My favourite thing about SL is the creativity. I love seeing creators who stretch the limits of the tools, simply to see what they can do. I love to see somebody find a workaround to ensure that they can create the item that they envisioned. I also love to see the detail that comes from somebody working so hard to make their idea a reality.

One person who has always awed me with her determination to break the mould and do something different is Kallisti Burns of Discord Designs. In the time that I have known Kallisti and her store I have seen her break many of the rules, designing hairstyles that I have never seen elsewhere and brining us some of the most realistic braids on the Grid.

For this years hair fair Kallisti has gone one step further, uploading some fantastic mesh hairstyles.

The two styles above are just a selection of the goodies available a Discord Designs' Hair Fair location. The first is my solid favourite, Dhilon. I adore the ruggedness of the style. It's messiness adds the the realism.
The second is Bouncer. A style that I was lucky enough to see some of the creation process. Bounder is a mohican style, created to resemble a close cut with many individual spikes. Again I love the realism.

All of the styles on offer come complete with hair-bases that are designed to follow the design from the mesh onto the avatar. The braids have a base resembling the natural pulls of a scalp with tightly braided hair. Bouncer has a shaved scalp.

Kallisti never lets a detail go, which guarantees you quality hair.

One Bad Pixel

Myself wearing Cherry Cheong dress in Pink and Cigarette pants in Red.

I totally should have waited until I could boost up to ultra and take a picture but I have to share this with you all right now! I'm a mesh convert and it's the fault of a bunch of ladies at the launch party for new mesh brand One Bad Pixel.

As of this time we have no idea who the designers are behind the brand (See the store for a little "guess who" contest.)

I don't usually like mesh. I've never gotten my head around what size I am, and I hate tweaking to make my curvy figure fit. With these I didn't have to tweak a thing... and I'm a medium! Bonus!

I'll post more pictures when I can boost up graphics. But here's a few of the store (Which is so gorgeous it deserves some spotlight), the party and the pretties!

SL8B - Free Kitty for all!

KittyCats are possibly one of the cutest breedables on the grid right now.
With a huge following and many markets and sales, it's been impossible to avoid them since they arrived back in January.
Well now, there's even more excuse to jump right in.

The KittyCats team have exploded into the SL8B celebrations in style by giving every single resident a free special edition Kitty! Born from a magicians hat, I introduce Magic.

The kitty has a beautiful "Birthday Suit". It's fur is covered in stars, fitting the "Magic of Secondlife" theme of the celebrations. It also has those amazing Blacklight eyes I'm crazy about and lots of other traits. This is one pretty kitty and a perfect starter for anyone considering giving them a try, or a great addition to those with a cattery already.

Don't be fooled by this kitty's suit though. What this kitty will give it's babies is a mystery, and it could throw anything from the most common to the very rarest traits!

Also in the hat you get a little magicians outfit for kitty (not shown) plus 1 weeks food for your new feline friend in the form of this funky birthday cake.

Once that food runs out you can get more from the KittyCats mainstore and it's really cheap too! Your new kitty will cost you around 15L a week to feed if you set it to No Breeding, or if you choose to breed your kitty it will consume about twice that food.

The special edition kittycat is available at SL8B for the next two weeks and everybody can grab one absolutely FREE. You don't have to have owned a KittyCat either, so head on over and take a look, what have you got to lose?

I braved the lag to get mine just minutes after the team sent out a notice. Trust me, wear very little and be prepared to wait. It took about 30 minutes for mine to be delivered, but everyone waiting are in such high spirits it passes really fast.

Here's your Limo.

Check back for more SL8B posts when I dare brave the sims again.

Bubblegum Weekends week 1

Gogo over at JuicyBomb has set us bloggers the challenge of wearing unnatural hair colours!

I too love the shades in hair packs that don't get much of an outing. Those pinks, teals and purples that look too cartoony for most looks, but absolutely amazing if you can pull it off.

So here's my first attempt, helped along by todays new Exile release Nomi in Passion.. a gorgeous purple.

Enjoy, and if you have a blog and want to take part in Bubblegum weekends - Info here!

See yesterdays post for outfit styling. I'm way too lazy to change.

One day my prince will come.

This post is a little late, I do apologise.

When I saw these skyboxes on the marketplace a few days ago I instantly knew that I had to see them in world. I just had to know if they were really as amazing as they looked in the pictures. They did not dissapoint.

The skyboxes, or skydomes are made by Paty Paule, who owns Cartoon Kid's a store for child avatars.
She has a choice of 4 available, the following three, plus a night-time version of the garden which has been snapped up by many of my meeroo loving friends as it's the perfect habitat!

Personally, I think these are amazing spaces for photographs. If, like me you struggle to find a spot where you can rez, and won't get photobombed by a newbie with his primness hanging out, these are for you.
They're low prim, the highest being 86 prims and they're quite large too, so you could easily hold a themed party inside.
Really, the options are endless!

Enjoy, and if you want to see them in world head over to the Cartoon Kid's store.

A story Wonderland, See "90's child" post for style card.

My Halloween

90's Child

I grew up in the 90's and I loved it.
I adored the fads like the tamagotchi's, trolls and smurfs, and I adored the fashion.

The 90's was an era of mismatch and randomness when it came to dressing. It was a decade of expressing yourself by breaking all of the rules.

Bring back the 90's!

I put this look together by rummaging around my inventory for bits and pieces I already had. The dress is from Celestial Studio's which I think is now closed down. The shoes are Duh! from about a year ago. The hair is from Exile and is free right now!!! It's called Jane and I love this colour. It reminds me of hair mascara.

The skin is Adam N Eve's Laurel, chosen for its neutral browns on the makeup.

So what era do you want to bring back?

Lady in Red

I'm not exactly a dress sort of person in RL, yet in SL I always find myself gravitating towards the pretty, and this dress is no exception.

From A-bomb, Time After Time is the picture of beauty, with the added bonus of being in a totally awesome shade of red. The dress conjures images of the 1940's or 1950's and gives just enough class alongside the bucket full of sass.

Magika "ROOTS"

When Sabina Gully plurked her new "roots" editions of her hairstyles about 30 minutes ago, I literally fell out of my skybox trying to get to Magika to get them.

I've been a fan of Magika hair for a long time, and I've watched as Sabina has developed more and more amazing ways to deliver her unique, recognisable styles. This time is no exception to her amazing talent.

As is usual for newer hairs from Magika, the hair comes with the option to wear the style mirrored. Meaning you get to decide which side the parting falls, which is amazing flexibility when it comes to pairing a style with makeups or accessories.
They also come with a hud including colour options and a really easy resizer. I love having the colours on a hud, saving me from having to resize 7 different hairs. I can resize once, get it perfect, then just one click and I've got a new dye.

The roots textures themselves are amazingly realistic and really give that "wow" factor.

I grabbed "Jess" because I loved the short funky style. But Sabina has already managed to add roots packs to a few of her current styles. They're available in store and on the marketplace, and I know I'll be getting more.

Until Next time xxx

L'abel steps into spring.

There's an extra special treat for you this  time, since my laptop decided it was a good idea to completely crash out on me and require a full format to get it to boot again. So now I'm left without photoshop until I have a chance to reinstall it.

So here goes, a sneak peak at L'abel's amazing new spring collection, where flowers and bloomers seem to be the order of the season.

Living Doll

Bloom-Dolls
I was trying my hardest to avoid them, but who can stop themselves when there’s something so adorable all over plurk.
Emma Gilmour released her Bloom dolls last week and they became an instant sensation, with hundreds of gorgeous pictures taken and edited in all styles. Every other plurk had a doll picture and each one made me “awww” even more, so it was only a matter of time before I ended up donning my own big head.
Emma mentioned that these doll’s weren’t exactly planned as a huge release, they were more of a personal project. Which just goes to prove that doing something just because you want to can result in something absolutely amazing.
Each doll comes with a head, shape, skin and poses and it’s so easy to dress them up. You can choose an eye color, lids, eyelashes and makeup and then take your favourite modifiable hair and fit it around the head for even more personalisation. If your hair is resize scripted, you can literally hit +10 about 6 times and it’ll only need minor adjustments to finish it off.
I also modded a tongue so my bloom could be just a little big cheekier.
Thankyou so much to some of my best girlies Sway, Sysy and Beulah for modelling these, and hopefully soon we’ll get Ephe in too!! Check back for more bloom shots.
Bloom Dolls are available from Surf Co.
Until next time

p.s No style card this time because I have no idea what the girlies are wearing haha.

So Boho

LOTD-15511_002

I love skin, but omg can it get expensive. So I always find myself on the hunt for high quality, low cost skins.
Todays lazy sunday offer from CandyDoll, Tamara, fits that description exactly. It’s only 50L today only and it’s cute!
I love the shade of the tan and the soft summery makeup. It’s perfect for the beach or a nice summer day by the lake.
I’ve paired it with the “So Boho” blouse from Mon Tissu, a store I’ve not really paid much attention to. I’ve seen them on the feeds and I’ll admit, I thought the photosourcing on some of the clothes would make them bad quality. I was so unbelievably wrong. Mon Tissu clothes are amazing. I’m officially converted!
The shorts are from Pink Outfitters, a firm favourite of mine. They’re the Military shorts and I think I must have worn them so much they should fall apart soon. Thank god sl seams don’t wear out.

The hair is from Lamb and it’s just 30L a pack on the discount shelf at Lula! Gotta love a bargain.

In other news, I have a new addiction and I blame my plurk buddies. I have KittyCatS!!! But more on those later.

so in love

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

New stores are like a drug. Once you know there’s a good one on the market, you hunt it down and grab onto it. If it’s really good it’ll soak up your cash leaving you broke, dazed and confused and with a load of extra baggage to deal with.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is my current drug, with the exception of the price!
Everything in this little store is under 10L, from shoes to clothes in the most gorgeous styles ever.
If I’m honest, when I was given the LM with an IM saying “Just got a dress for 5L” I was sceptical to say the least. Usually I head to somewhere so cheap and it’s the SL equivalent of the pound shop (brits will know what I mean, but for those unsure it’s a place where everything is £1, and most of it is crap). So landing in KKBB I had the shock of my life.
The store itself is a little skybox with wall upon wall of pretty, and a second floor of even more pretty.
I can’t describe it well enough, and it isn’t actually in search (land problems by the looks of it) so heres some pics, and a slurl… get your ass over there!

Until Next Time

Going to see mommy.

Broke isn’t good. But after months of being in RL and not really doing much in world, broke is where I’ve landed.
I’m sure we’ve all been there. Balance is low, yet all you see are sales and promotions and … well ok I caved, but only to put together a look you could wear to see Mum. Happy mothers day to all of the Mum’s out there celebrating today xxx.

8511
I had good reason too. Celestial Studios is closing! (Insert sad face here). Starley is closing the store, and so she’s  dropped everything to 25L for single or 100L for fatpacks. There’s skins, clothes, shoes, hair, accessories and tons more. Celestial Studios has been around since the dawn of time, so it’s a huge loss to see it go. So get on down there to grab some of the cuteness before it’s gone, and to help us wish Starley all of the best for future projects.
I also did a little lucky chair hopping today, just for the fun of it.
I managed to get this skin from Rockberry, Megan. It’s so sweet and that shading is beautiful I think it’s going to be my new regular skin. I adore the innocent makeup and the cute lips.
Another lucky find (although not from the lucky chair) was this hair from D!VA, a new store for me. This hair, Mai, is the gift for 10,000 subscribers! The only downside to the hair at D!VA is that it’s all no modify, so I’ve had to reshape my head a little to make it fit. Hopefully the designer, Marissa Kira, will start offering her hair Mod.. because I can really see her becoming popular. Her styles are dreamy and flowing. I love the realistic look of the textures and the girly accessories.
Marissa also has poses upstairs in her store for free, which I’m sure you’ll see used on this blog in the future.
Until next time

L'abel Jayme!

On January 29th Neferia Abel will be releasing new designs in her L`Abel store!
We all love new stuff, and new Nef stuff is top of that list... for me it had to be the Jayme pants and tops. They come in 4 colors each (Black, Olive, purple and white).
These are the white, but they look pink in my windlight setting strangely, which I suspect is yet another graphics error on this pc.. either way I still totally love them.

Skin tight - Latex for Ladies.

If there's something you're least likely to see me wear it's latex. It's not that I don't like it, but the amount of talcom powder I have to pour down the pants to get it on... well it's not worth thinking about.

But SL latex... well, another story entirely. This range from Sachi Vixen of Adam n Eve is gorgeous. It's cute, sexy and most importantly... Skin Tight... Enjoy.

Discord Designs - Lux

I will admit that I've never worn braids in SL. Mainly due to the fact that they're usually unrealistic and look as though they're not actually attached, or they're too thick.

Then Kallisti from Discord Designs dropped LUX on me, and I was instantly in love.

Kallisti makes braids that look real. She puts the details in perfectly, including the pulled roots on the hairbase. These braids look real!

Honestly, if you haven't yet, get on over to Discord Designs, and browse some of the most creative, fun hairstyles in sl.

Free eyes at poetic colors!

"The heavens are sparkling with starlight tonight.
That's what I see through your eyes."
(Leann Rimes)

Morrocan Nights is the new freebie eyes at Poetic Colors. They come in 2 shade, light and dark, but I can only see a very slight difference in the two.
As usual, the detail and shading is gorgeous and the quality is perfect. The eyes look realistic.
